The Fridagymnasiet upper secondary school in Vänersborg, Sweden, is an independently run small school founded in 2006. It is part of the Fridaskolorna school organisation with five compulsory schools in the western part of Sweden. It has an outspoken ICT vision, with laptops for all staff and students, using online books, digital platforms, shared documents etc. Fridagymnasiet has been involved in several Comenius- and Erasmus+ projects since 2006. The school has experience in hosting meetings and exchanges and the students always cooperate with another European partner school to make an exchange during their second and final year. The Fridagymnasiet also has a clear intention to provide strong sustainable international influences at school. Every school year we have several interdisciplinary projects for our students. We have in earlier Erasmus+ projects connected our interdisciplinary projects to international projects and in that way, since all our students are involved in the interdisciplinary projects, succeeded to spread our Erasmus+ projects quite effectively to all our students in the school. Almost all off our students starts university studies after their time here. We hope that many of our students will both study and work abroad and promote a sustainable Europe. Our three programs can all contribute to the project in different ways. The Science program works to a large extent in a laboratory approach and has good connections with the nearby Innovatum, a science centre, the college in Trollhättan, Gothenburg University and Universeum, a bigger science centre.. The Science program has two specializations, one strictly for nature science and the other one is a combination of science combined with a social scientific perspective. It is an interdisciplinary perspective that essentially focus on sustainability. In the Economic program our students have their own companies for a year. It is called UF-företag which means Young Enterprise. It is an educative process were the students learn and develop their innovative as well as entrepreneurial skills. The Social Science program is focusing on our common society, both the Swedish, as well as the European. Due to our efforts, we expect that we soon will become a certified EU-School. In particular, our ambition is to use the key competences and sustainable development goals for the EU. The main person responsible for the project will be Mikael Sunnanquist. For science: Trond Stenvard, [email protected] For Entrepreneurship: Magnus Olsson, [email protected]. For Social Science: Erik Alvin, [email protected] The Principal will make sure to pass on the responsibility to others in the staff. He will also take part in the project himself. Our projects are always integrated in courses and tasks during the school year. Therefore all teachers are involved in the projects.
